Behind The Scenes
A loving thank you to my team!
Intentionally I set out to have the smallest crew possible to locate these women and their stories. This was so that we wouldn’t overpower the women courageous enough to share their compelling stories with us on set. It also kept us agile enough to travel the world looking for the women whose life’s work we wanted to amplify.
We certainly had our own adventures along the way and we’ll share them at some point. But I want to salute and thank the women in my filmmaking family on this adventure from New York and Seattle to Rwanda, Swaziland, South Africa, Kenya and Vietnam; Jennifer Pfister, Gretchen Warthen, Shannon Worley, Marjorie Sacks, Amy Janes, Cici Pleadwell, Camille Adams, Kire Godal and Stephanie Rha - thank you! For your courage and determination to see this film through with me - it wasn’t an easy shoot by any means and I am forever grateful to all of you.
To the relentless and passionate men who balanced out our film family; Eebrahim Hajee, Ryan Hall, Rick Matthews, Robin Matthews, Gunnard Doboze, Raymond Kalisa, Tolbert Boss - there aren’t enough words to express my thanks for your talents and dedication - hopefully the film will speak for itself.
My phenomenal editors who waded through some of the most interesting conversations and beautiful footage I’ve ever had the pleasure of filming; Felipe Vargas and Eric Pritchard with additional editing by Mark Zambrano - thank you! My passion project exists because of your skills & creativity.
And lastly to my brilliant Executive Producer, Keith Watson and the 12 brave investors he encouraged to back me on this life changing journey. Keith believed in me and this project so much he put his reputation on the line to see it made. I can never thank you enough friend, grateful to the end - and definitely a year of firsts!
